Annual Day - 2016

JGIS celebrated its 13th Annual Day on 23rd December, 2016. Dr.Seema Khanwalkar, (a JGIS parent) was the Chief Guest of the evening. Dr. Seema Khanwalkar is a PhD in Linguistics and Semiotics from  Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She is an Associate Professor and has been teaching for over two decades. She is currently associated with CEPT University, NID, IIM Ahmedabad and IIT, Powai. The occasion was graced by the Chairman of ASIA Charitable Trust, Shri John Geevergese, President, Mr. K.L.N. Sastry and the Executive Director Mr. M. P. Chandran.

The function began with the welcome address and the lighting of lamp followed by the rendition of JG Anthem, introduction of the Chief Guest and the presentation of the Annual report. The highlight of the formal function was the felicitation of those young achievers who made the school proud by making a mark in academics, literary activities and sports in national and international levels. The teachers and the support staff, who completed ten years and five years of service, were also honoured. There was also ‘The Chairman’s Award for the best teacher’s for outstanding contribution to school. The formal session came to an end with the release of the tenth issue of the creative journal ‘About Us’.
The theme of the cultural programme that followed the formal function was, ‘Five Elements – Astitva Ka Aadhar” a soulful treat put together in the form of extraordinary dance, music and drama. The programme came to an end with a fashion show, which was a culmination of all the Five Elements.
