An educational trip to Vasad Ravines was organized by the school for the
students of grade II on 2nd and 3rd January’2017. “Ravines Eco Park”, is an
ecological and adventure park for nature lovers. There were exciting games and
challenging activities with full of fun, thrill and adventure in the midst of nature.
There was a pottery session, tractor ride and a magic show too. They enjoyed
many activities in the adventure zone, like flying fox and rope Burma bridge.

The Closing Ceremony of the eighth JG Cup Football Tournament was organized on 30^th December, 2016. The welcome address was delivered by Master. Rohan (Class XI – ISC). The anchors of the evening were Master. Soham Nayak (A Level) and Ms. Harakh Patel (X – ICSE).

The Opening Ceremony of the eighth JG Cup Football Tournament 2016 was organised by JGIS on 26th December, 2016. This mega event spanning 5 days had 35 teams participating and competing under two categories inter school boys and inter school open boys from all over Gujarat. The Chief Guest of the evening was none other than our Chairman, Shri John Geevargese. The occasion was graced by Executive Director, Mr. M. P. Chandran who is also the Chairperson, Organising Committee of JG Cup Football Tournment, The Director of JG group of colleges, Dr.

We had the school garba on 8th October. The programme began with Aarti by the Chairman, followed by the Executive director, Principal and by other staff members. After the aarti, there were Garba performances by students of different classes and teachers of JGIS. Then the entire JG family which included the management, the staff, students and parents danced to the tunes of garba. The programme continued to till 10:30.Prizes were awarded in different catagories at the end.

The pre - primary section celebrated Moms’ At School on 30/09/2016. Mothers were asked to dress up in Retro Style and come to school. The timings for the event was 10 am to 1 pm. Principal Mrs. Kavita Sharma welcomed the mothers and then programme started with a song sung by children “Maa tu kitni pyaari hai…”Mothers were given an opportunity to  experience fun, joy and happiness through different games and dance.

Grandparents are our heritage and an important part of our family. On 21^st September 2016 our school celebrated Grandparents’ Day. It was a special day for all those who attended the programme and for us, as it gave us a chance to interact with an age group that is most often, overlooked. The event started by welcoming the grandparents with Hindi and English songs followed by games specially arranged for them. They also had  fun  dancing with their grandchildren and reliving their childhood.

Inter house Hindi Declamation Competition for juniors and seniors was held on 9th September 2016. The junior category having participants from grade VII & VIII and the senior category having participants from grade IX & X. Each category had  8 participants. The judges for the competition were Ms. Neelam Rathi and Ms.Archna  Upadhyay. Scorer was Bindu Raphael. The winners of  the Junior Category were: 1st Rudra Patel of VII B, 2nd Riya Rajan  of VII C, 3rd Krishna Gujjar  of VII A, 4th Aditya Pillai of VII C.

The Pre primary section conducted the “Fancy dress show” in the auditorium on 01/09/2016. All the five classes namely Nursery, Jr.Kg. A, Jr.Kg. B, Sr.Kg A and Sr.Kg. B had different themes.Nursery children became characters of stories like The Red Hen,Goldilocks and the 3 Bears,The Thirsty Crow etc.The students of Jr Kg were dressed as Musical Instruments like Drums,Bells,Tabla,Xylophone etc.

Inter House quiz competition for the year 2016-17 was held on 26th August 2016. The competition was conducted for two categories, the junior category having participants from grade V to VIII and the senior category having participants from grade IX to XII.  Each group had 3 participants. The Junior Quiz was conducted by Ms.Sujata Dastidar and the Senior quiz was conducted by Ms.Kavitha Rajesh. Scorers were Bindu Raphael and Shila Singh.

Janamashtami Celebration on 24th August 2016
Janamashtami Celebration was held on 24th August 2016. A dance was performed by the students showing different avatars of Lord Krishna. A Krishna song was sung by the students. The program was followed by the  aarti of Lord Krishna.

Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor on 15th August, 2016.
On that day the national flag was hoisted by the chairman of our school. A patriotic song was sung after that and the entire gathering was addressed by the chairman. Then everyone proceeded to the auditorium and we had our theme performed there by a group of teachers and students. The theme for the day was ‘Sarfaroshi- the tale of freedom Part II’.

The English Declamation Competition was held on the 29th  of July, 2016. Young talents rose to the occasion as they delivered famous speeches by popular personalities. The students were judged on the following criteria: Memorization, selection, diction, eye contact, ability to hold attention, and overall effectiveness. The judges for the day were  Ms. Kavitha Rajesh and Ms. Neelam Rathi. Krushy Acharya and Nilay Shah bagged the 1st position in the sub-junior and the junior category respectively.

The Inter-House Debate (2016-17) was organised on 29th July 2016. The topic for the debate was: “Corruption, the abuse of public power for private gain cannot be eradicated.” The event was adjudicated by Mr T Thavamani, Mr Uday Tanna, and Ms Anu John.  The debate required the students to defend their stance in their talk and engage with the questions from fellow participants during the rebuttal. Each participant was judged on the content and delivery of their talk. Soham Nayak of A-level secured the 1st position.  Yashas Samtani of grade IX A (IGCSE) secured the second position.
