JGIS organized ‘Poems Out Loud 2017-18’- Inter-school Poetry Recitation Competition on 20th July, 2017. 29 reputed schools of Ahmedabad participated in this competition. The competition was held in three categories: (a) Sub-junior: grades 4-5, (b) Junior: grades 6-7 and (c) Senior: 8-9. The Judges were Mr. Harish Iyer, Ms. Rupa Ramamurthy, Ms. Ketki Modi, Ms. Ankita Dave and Mr. Shorab Negi.
Inter House English Recitation Competition was held on 14th July, 2017 in the auditorium. The competition was conducted for two categories, the junior category having participants from grade V & VI and the senior category having participants from grade VII & VIII.
The Inter house Chess Competition was held from 10th July, 2017 to 14th July, 2017. The competition was organized in two groups: Junior & Senior. Three students from each house were selected. Each house members competed with all the other houses with the Swiss (League) system. The participants showed great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed & focused while playing the matches. The winning participants made their houses proud and also enabled them to grab some house points.
A visit here is truly an out of the world experience and helps you reflect how the Indus Valley Civilization thrived here thousands of years ago. Original artefacts excavated from the site next door are displayed in the Lothal Archaeological Museum. The major attractions in Lothal are the vast ruins of the ancient city. The most important are the sites of the ancient dockyard, the lower town, the bead factory, the warehouses, and the drainage system.
Students of Grade I visited Trimandir, Adalaj, Ahmedabad on 12th July, 2017 as a part of POI unit “Five Senses”. They explored the “Store of happiness” and were able to use their five senses and identify the importance of it. They interacted with the members of Store of happiness and gathered information related to the same.
On the fine morning of 7th July, 2017 the deserving young talents of our school were bestowed with the responsibility of leading their school with commitment, confidence and competence. The investiture ceremony thus marked the inaugural of the senior student council for the academic session 2017-18.
Trips and excursions are an integral part of the curriculum. To create awareness amongst children, the students of Grade II visited the Children Traffic Park on July 3, 2017 as an extended learning of Communication unit. Wherein they learnt the rules and regulation to be followed on the road to become better citizen. Children took part in the interactive session and answered various questions that were asked.
Election is an organized process through which the heads of a democratic country are elected. It gives the people the most important political right- Right to vote. At JGIS, this year too we elected the Head Boy and the Head Girl through this procedure. We conducted a mock election. The purpose of it was to give the children a ‘Hands on’ experience on the conduction of election. We followed the same procedures as is followed in the actual election.
The children had fun being in the pool with their respective classmates. They were accompanied with their teachers and aunty. They enjoyed playing with water toys and built social skills.
This activity helped children settle down quickly in the new atmosphere at the starting of the year.
Pre-Primary Orientation was held on Saturday, 10/06/2017 in school auditorium. Principal Ma’am Mrs. Kavita Sharma along with the co - ordinator and teachers of the section conducted the Orientation. Most of the parents of the children of Pre-Primary section attended the Orientation .The programme started with welcoming the parents and a Power Point Presentation on The Theoretical Backdrop Of The Curriculum. It stated the 5 Principles on which our curriculum is based on.
The workshop was about how to enrich ourselves by encouraging /motivating our buddies and change ourselves in positive way according to situations. It was about how to trust others. “We cannot trust any new person is a belief not a fact”. A brief discussion was held on “to be natural as much as possible than to be normal” depending on situations. The centering activity was very good for relaxation and peace of mind. Conscious mind has its limitations, so one should try to use subconscious mind by giving auto suggestions.
The annual farewell for the twelfth grade students was organized on 25th April, 2017. It was a fun filled evening where emotions were at their peak. The function began at 5 p.m. when the seniors entered and were welcomed with beautiful brooches. The formal session began at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The programme began with the giving away of tags to the seniors which was followed by a Presentation that revolved around the seniors' best moments in school. After the final round of tags, Ms. Kavita Sharma, Principal gave some final words of advice to the seniors.
