Christmas was celebrated in a joyful way at JGIS on 20^th December 2017. The portico was decorated with Christmas tree and crib.   It was organized in the Auditorium started with the school prayer followed by the songs by the students then the teachers sung the choir song wishing them happy Christmas and the program ended with distribution of toffees by the Santa Claus. The children were very happy after attending the Christmas celebrations.   

JG International School had organized a trip for two nights three days to Sasan Gir. It was a thrilling and amazing experience. We visited Devalia Park to see the pride of the jungle: The lions. Apart from lions we saw deer’s, fox, leopards, antelopes etc. Our stay at Gir Pride Resort amidst the forest area was another experience.

Never, Never, Never give up!!! There will be challenges and adversities in our life but we should never give up as every cloud has a silver lining. To give up on our dream is to give up on life. The path of life is full of obstacles but what we do know is if we give up and don’t try we will never be able to stand up. Because we have a choice; and that choice is to keep trying. This valuable life skill of your attitude towards life was showcased in the form of a presentation by class III Earth and was appreciated by all.

Students of Class IV got a unique experience of enjoying the magnificence of forts and  palaces on their visit to Kumbalgarh and Haldighati. The uniquely carved temples and the 36 km long winding walls of the Kumbalgarh fortress second only to the Great Wall of China  gave the students a glimpse of the glorious history of the Rajputana kings and the heritage of our country.

JG International School had organized a trip to Mount Abu and Rajpura for three nights and four days. It was thrilling, adventurous and amazing experience.  In Mount Abu we stayed in a camp and did different activities like rock climbing, ziplining, etc. We saw the moon rising and the constellations. Bonfire was organized and we had a circle time around it and played games like students were given few tasks like antakshri, dances. Overall, the students had a great time having lots of fun and information about the place and things around.

A fun filled adventure camp was organized at Orsang Resort near Vadodara on 8^th October,2017 for the students of Grade 3. The children had a variety of challenging and exciting activities. They did various adventurous activities like Zip Line, Flying Fox, Swing Jump, Burma Bridge, Hanging Zag, Rope Walk, Tyre Walk and Commando Net. These activities helped to strengthen teamwork and personal accomplishment. They had a thrilling experience of Night Trekking. The students were full of zeal and enthusiasm during the camp.

Children of Jr.KG visited the aquarium located in Kankaria, as part of their theme ‘In and Around Water’ and ‘Transport’ on Friday 06/10/2017. They saw a wide variety of fishes, turtles, water snakes etc. They also saw sea weeds and what a coral looks like, as the artificial ones are placed in the aquarium. This trip helped them make better connections with the theme. Children also enjoyed the toy train ride around the lake as a part of their ongoing theme ‘Transport’. They all had fun in the bus, singing rhymes and songs.

Children of Nursery and Sr.KG visited a farm ‘5 Acres of kindness ‘ located on the outskirts of the city, at Gyaspur, on Friday 06/10/201 7 as part of the theme in their curriculum-‘ Pet and farm’ and 5 Senses respectively. 5 Acres of Kindness is a wonderful initiative, under which, rescued animals of a wide variety, from Gujarat and neighbouring states, are housed at a 5 Acre farm. The rescue farm, is run by Animal HELP Foundation.

Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition for juniors and seniors was held on 6^th October, 2017. Judges for the junior category (V-VII)  were Ms. Rupali and Ms. Neeti Bhatt and for senior category (VIII-X) were Ms. Archana and Ms. Sheeba. There were 8 participants in each category. The winners of the junior category are: 1^st Divay Ramani of RT House, 2^nd Krushy Acharya of JB House, 3^rd Prisha Chanderia of CS House, 4^th Aryan Patel of JB House.

Students of Class I- Mercury got an opportunity to showcase their class presentation on “Home is where the heart is”. Students demonstrated various skills like observation, communication, presentation through a skit and song. They displayed their understanding about the importance of a house and the components that make a  house  a home.

Class ll Narmada got an opportunity to showcase their class presentation on  ‘A Chance to silence’.  Students demonstrated various skills like observation, communication, spatial awareness, presentation through a skit focusing on importance of silence in our busy life. Through this presentation they were able to convey the benefits of silence. Silence calms our body down and bring our mind back into the present again. It also helps to release stress and pressure of work. It teaches us to notice nature.

The Annual Garba of JGIS was held on 23^rd October 2017. The event began with offering prayers to the Diety and performing  Aarti by our Honourable chairman Shri John Gee Vergheese and Executive Director Mr. M. P. Chandran.  Col. Rahul Sharma, Director ASIA Charitable Trust, other trustees too graced the occasion. The event saw various performances  by students and staff members, giving various glimpses of traditional as well as modern form of garba.

Self-defence has become an important tool for one’s protection. It is time that each women becomes vigilant and totally aware of the surroundings. Realising the need of the hour JG International School took the initiative of organizing a training in self-defence for girls of classes IX to XII. The session was conducted by  Mr Dipesh, third dan, a karate expert and his team.

An interactive session on “ Be safe – stay safe ” was conducted  for classes V to XII in various sessions with an objective to make children aware about basic skills to prevent and overcome unsafe situations. A session on “ Good touch and bad touch ” was conducted for classes I to IV to give them an insight on the topic and to guide them that children should share such concerns with their parents.
