Lit Fest (Class-IV) - 2023

After an interlude of nearly two years, J G International School is back with Lit fest 2022–23, where students of class I-VIII present the book they read during the academic year.

On 2nd February, 2023, Day 2 of the Lit Fest 2022-23 students of class IV presented their novels “Folktales from India” and “Folktales around the world”. The main objective was to give the children a rich experience of folk tales and help them understand that humans, emotions and stories remain the same in every part of the world but it is the cultural setting of a place which impacts them and makes the difference.

The event was graced by Prof. Sangita Shroff, director of the Nirma University Institute of Design and Mr. Hajime Fukuda, a Japanese delegate. They interacted and inspired the students.

The folktale opened with "Bhavai," often referred to as Vesha or Swang,a  unique stage art form performed with Bhava meaning expression revealing emotions.

The first folktale portrayed was "The Nightingale Song" from Sri Lanka, which told the story of Lord Buddha who set out to color the drab world, but when it was the Nightingale’s turn, there were no more colors and then Lord Buddha conferred the Nightingale with sweet voice.

The second folktale was an Indian one called "Gopi from Varanasi." The protagonist, Gopi, was an upright laborer who, in the end, received a reward from the king for his toil and purity.

Students performed exceptionally well in both of the folktales. They performed with confidence and enthralled the audience. The event culminated with feedback from the dignitaries and parents. Our Chairman Dr. M P Chandran encouraged the children with his gracious presence and inspiring words.
