Visit to Gandhi Ashram (Class – Jr. KG) – 2024

Children of Jr.KG visited the Sabarmati Ashram on 4th January, 2024.

The field trip was related to one of the themes of the month ‘Incredible India’. Children learned about Gandhiji and his values as a part of the theme, understanding why he is the Father of the Nation. To make the learning process more effective, children visited the Ashram. Sabarmati Ashram is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, adjoining the banks of the river Sabarmati. From his base here, Gandhiji led the Dandi march, also known as the Salt Satyagraha on 12th March, 1930. In recognition of the significant influence that this march had on the Indian independence movement, the Indian government has established the ashram as a national monument. The Ashram now has a museum, the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya. The charkha used by Gandhi to spin khadi and the writing table he used for writing letters are also some of the items kept. Children saw the utensils used in the Ashram and also walked through the photo gallery of the entire journey of Gandhiji.

This trip also inculcated values of respect and pride in every child.
